Field coil loudspeakers featuring high-voltage excitation represent the zenith of dynamic expression, micro-detail, and natural acoustic response. However, a high-efficiency driver is only as good as the magnetic flux stability and purity of its field supply. Standard off-the-shelf DC supplies, switching power units, or primitive vintage topologies—such as unstable and highly toxic selenium rectifiers—severely degrade transient speed, introduce audible 50/100 Hz hum, and endanger valuable driver coils.

• True Dual-Mono Architecture: Starting directly from the dedicated secondary windings of the custom-mains power transformer, the unit houses two completely independent monaural power supplies to eliminate any cross-channel crosstalk or ground loops.

• Passive Voltage Regulation via Secondary Taps: Voltage selection is executed in a purely passive, non-dissipative manner. Instead of employing active electronic regulators or series resistors—which introduce phase anomalies and feedback—adjustment is handled by switching multi-tapped secondary transformer windings using a professional-grade, gold-plated rotary selector. This allows precise tuning of magnetic flux density B and driver Q without compressing dynamic compliance.

• Inductive CLC Filtering & Polypropylene Capacitors: Each channel incorporates a robust CLC (Capacitor–Inductor–Capacitor) choke-input filter network. We strictly reject electrolytic capacitors in favor of massive, high-voltage polypropylene capacitors. Polypropylene delivers instantaneous current delivery on dynamic peaks, exceptionally low ESR, and decades of unchanged performance.

• Ultra-Fast Ultra-Low Noise Rectification: High-voltage Schottky/fast-recovery diodes ensure silent, spike-free switching without the reliability risks, performance degradation, and severe toxicity associated with failing selenium components.

 

Build Quality & Enclosure

Every PSU is painstakingly assembled by hand using point-to-point wiring. The internal structure features oversized, custom-wound power transformers and high-inductance filter chokes mounted on a rigid chassis. The enclosure is crafted from heavy-gauge aluminum with custom laser-engraved anodized front panels and a CNC-machined perforated acrylic top plate, optimized for passive convection cooling and high-end visual elegance.
